By approving a quoted project, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these terms. Please make sure to read them before reaching out!

Failure to adhere to these terms may result in me terminating the commission and issuing a refund. If this happens before work starts, it will be a full refund. Otherwise, the refund will depend on how much time and money I have already invested into your project. If I’m concerned about this possibility, I will generally try to talk to you first.

Requirements to Start

  • You must be 18+ to commission me.
  • I’m not taking commissions for anything explicitly NSFW at this time.
  • You are responsible for having legal access to any third-party assets that you want included in your commission, including avatar bases and accessories. They must also allow for third-party edits.
  • If I have to buy assets such as avatar bases to do your commission, that may or may not factor into your commission price.
  • If I’m interested in your commission, I’ll let you know and give you a quote. If you accept this quote, you’ll be placed in the queue.
After this point, significant changes to your order become much harder. If you want additional work done or want to change details of our agreement, it is up to my discretion to allow it.
  • I will generally try to reuse assets I create in other commissions and even Gumroad products. If you want any part of your commission to be exclusive to you and not reused, you need to specify that in your request. Depending on what it is, this may increase the price or decrease the chance of me taking your commission.
  • Be clear about how private you want your commission to be. I’m happy to keep it discreet, but I need to be notified that privacy is desired. Otherwise, I may show it off on my socials or to my friends.
  • Payment is taken once I'm ready to work on your order. For anything over 100 USD, if you’d like, we can split it into two payments:
    • One payment right before I start working.
    • One payment right before delivery.
  • Payment through PayPal only. Suitcases of cash left under a bench at my local park are no longer accepted. Turns out that’s a bad idea.

Behavior and Process Requirements

  • I can only adhere to requirements you actually give me. If I fill in the blanks in a reasonable way, but not the way you wanted, my obligation to make major revisions is limited. If I was a complete fool and did something strange, that’s on me, though it will be up to my judgment if that’s the case.
  • Reference images are highly desired for any details you’re particular about. If you don’t have them or don’t care, I’m happy to fill in the blanks with my own creative vision, within reason. Please make sure you’re ready for whatever I come up with. I don’t want to have to make major adjustments afterward.
  • Don’t be mean. I expect mutual respect and consideration throughout the entire process.
  • Honest and direct feedback is encouraged. If you don’t like something, you have the right to say so. That doesn’t mean I can address every single complaint or request, but it is valuable to know your thoughts.
  • Please keep things respectful and appropriate. No need to be shy about what you’re into, but while I’m doing work for you I feel it’s important to keep things focused on the project at hand. If things are drifting too far I’ll let you know.
  • If you have an issue, please contact me before opening a dispute or chargeback. Unresolved payment disputes, chargebacks, or payment reversals will result in your commission being terminated.
  • Pay attention to progress pictures. If you see something you don’t like, it is better to say something before I’ve built a bunch of work on top of it and can no longer easily change it.
  • Make sure to be reachable. If I’m unable to get any response from you in 30 days, I’ll consider your commission abandoned and issue a refund based on how much work has already been done.

Expectations

  • I’m doing this on the side. Wait times may be inconsistent, though once I’ve started your commission I will aim to have it done in a week or two.
You’re always welcome to ask for updates, though I will typically try to update you when I hit major milestones.
  • I do my best, but UV seams will never be perfect, especially in complex areas or with significant normal map details.
  • The same applies to weight painting and blendshape support. I’ve developed techniques that I believe get good results, but there will always be weird edge cases.
I focus on making sure typical use cases look good and that there are no glaring issues.
  • There’s some stuff I’m pretty good at and other stuff I’m not. I’m willing to try things and will be up-front with you about how well I think they will come out.
Generally, the best results will come from work similar to things I’ve already done that you like.

Deliverables and Post-Commission Policies

  • Unless otherwise agreed, delivery will be upon project completion and will consist of a Unity package with everything you need for personal use of the avatar in VRChat. Source files will generally not be included unless they are included in the quote.
  • Each commission gets one optional post-delivery revision pass. This must be invoked within 1 month of delivery and is limited to small tweaks or fixes, not major modifications. Major changes or additional features will require a new quote.
  • I’ll retain files related to your commission for 2 months and want to fix any glaring issues discovered within that time. What exactly constitutes a glaring issue is up to my judgment, and some issues may be too complex or unreasonable to fix, but I encourage you to ask if something is bothering you.
  • VRChat and other parties like Unity occasionally make fundamental changes to their software. These changes may modify asset behavior or outright break something.
I only offer support for addressing such breaking changes up to 2 months after delivering your commission, but I will be happy to answer whatever questions I can afterward.

License

  • No copyrights are transferred as part of this commission. I retain the copyright to all of my contributions and unique assets I create, and you retain the rights to your own character designs. I may reuse individual assets I make in other commissions or Gumroad products.
  • You are granted a personal-use license for whatever you commission from me. This license allows unlimited personal use and allows you to make your own modifications or additions, provided they are not overtly offensive.
  • You may use the avatar in VRChat or use assets from it in similar social platforms, provided it is not possible to download individual files. You may include parts of it, or the entire thing, in public avatars you make, with credit. You may also use it on streaming services and in renders.
  • You may not resell or redistribute any part of the deliverable. If you need to send the files to someone doing further work for you, you need my written permission.
